Why Fractional

Benefits

There are many reasons why companies should hire a fractional CRO. Fractional CROs can provide your company with the expertise, experience, flexibility, and scalability it needs to achieve revenue goals. Here are a few of the most common reasons:

  • Cost savings: Hiring a fractional CRO can save a company a significant amount of money compared to hiring a full-time CRO. Fractional CROs typically charge by the hour or day, which can be much more affordable than a full-time salary.

  • Expertise: Fractional CROs are typically experienced professionals with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in revenue growth. They can help companies develop and implement strategies that will help them achieve their revenue goals.

  • Flexibility: Fractional CROs can be hired on a part-time or as-needed basis, which gives companies the flexibility they need to meet their changing needs.

  • Scalability: Fractional CROs can be scaled up or down as needed, which makes them a good option for companies that are growing or contracting.

  • Improved alignment: A fractional CRO can help to improve alignment between different departments within your company, such as sales, marketing, and product development. This can lead to more efficient and effective revenue growth efforts.

  • Increased focus on revenue growth: A fractional CRO can help your company to focus on revenue growth as its top priority. This can help to ensure that all of your resources are being used in the most effective way possible to achieve your goals.

  • Access to best practices: A fractional CRO can bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge about the latest best practices for revenue growth. This can help your company to stay ahead of the competition and achieve its goals more quickly.

  • Increased employee morale: A fractional CRO can help you increase employee morale by providing them with the support and resources they need to be successful.

  • Reduced risk: Hiring a full-time CRO is a big commitment. If the CRO doesn't work out, you not only have lost performance and productivity but you could be stuck with a large severance package as well. With a fractional CRO, you can cancel the contract at any time without any financial penalty.

Business Cases

We have typically seen there are two significant business cases to working with a fractional CRO.  Start-ups in growth mode and larger companies where sales have stalled.

Start-ups

  • A recurring theme with startups is when is the right time to hire a full-time head of sales role?  CEOs know they need and want a more dedicated focus on sales efforts but are often resource-strapped and making this hire is not only critical to get right, but can be very stressful when it applies to the bottom line revenue and burn rate.  With 30+ years in software sales and seeing more and more startups that could use this type of guidance early on but do not have the resources to hire a full-time role or the need quite frankly, there is still a real need for this experience and expertise to help get it right at the beginning as opposed to later on and a fractional CRO is a great option.  We can help identify the gaps and provide the guidance and execution necessary to help build the predictable sales engine that is desired.

Larger Companies

  • There are times when a fresh set of eyes are needed and helpful to see the roadblocks to stalled sales efforts and offer insights and thoughts on strategies that will help to move sales back into the right direction.  A fractional CRO will bring a different perspective as they are coming at the issues and concerns from a different angle and are not as emotionally attached to the company's solutions making it easier to see where the gaps lie.

In both instances, it is pretty straightforward.  What are the gaps, what are the processes and methodologies to implement and why are these the right steps to take. A proper fractional CRO will deliver to this and become and extension of your team providing tremendous value at a much faster rate and cost than would typically be expected.  Better yet, when the timing is more suited, they can help you hire the best full-time sales leader to take the reigns and keep the momentum moving forward.
